The immense growth within the legal and financial sectors in Cyprus over the past 10 years has created a much higher focus on compliance jobs, due to the important and often complex regulatory requirements for businesses operating within the European Union.
The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CYSec) is the financial regulatory body in Cyprus and as the island is an European Union member, all business operations must comply with the European harmonisation law (MiFID).
An annual legal requirement for compliance offers is to commit to a series of continuous learning courses to keep up to date with developments and changes in regulations. A compliance officer’s typical role includes performing AML compliance reporting, advising on risks and potential vulnerabilities, drafting of internal compliance manuals, policies and procedures, and implementation. Requirements typically include knowledge in AML and KYC, and certification in CySEC.

Manage the Company’s ongoing legal matters (local and international). To think strategically and tactically, make risk-benefit evaluations and develop action plans in relation to compliance and AML risks.
Minimum 2 years of experience in Compliance/AML is essential. Strong knowledge of European regulatory framework and local requirements. Confident written and verbal communication skills in both English and Greek.
Responsible for the AML function and Compliance Services of the firm. Preparation of regulatory, risk and compliance reports, as well as operational manuals, for multiple clients mainly in the financial industry.
Assist the Compliance Officer in the preparation and submission of all required reporting obligations to CySEC and in the establishment and implementation of the Company’s Risk Assessment and Monitoring Program.
Processing Clients deposits, withdrawals, transfers according to company policies and procedures. Background in Bookkeeping, Compliance or KYC
At least 5 years’ experience in financial companies out of which at least 2 years in AML/ Compliance roles. CySec Advanced Certificate. CySec AMLCO certificate. Advanced knowledge of CySec and European regulations relating to AML.
Have advanced knowledge of CySec and European regulations relating to AML. Prepare annual regulatory AML reports. Organise and manage clientand counterparty KYC procedures (onboarding, monitoring etc).
Ensure Company’s compliance with local and European regulations on everyday basis. Liaise with internal/external auditors and CySec on any compliance related matters. Have an advanced certificate from CySec.
Develop & enforce adequate policies & procedures in order to meet the compliance requirements of CySEC and other applicable rules and regulations, including procedures and controls relevant to the prevention of AML and anti-terrorist financing. Provide recommendations / advice to business lines on best practices implementation of CySEC’s regulatory requirements.
